The Prevention and Self-Care Steering Group agreed in June 2015 that more preventative Winter Messages should be promoted in the local community.
It was decided that Matthew Clift, Project Manager (Prevention and Self-Care) would produce an A5 leaflet to communicate these messages to the residents of Bracknell Forest.
The leaflet consisted on one side of messages around the correct use of antibiotics and what to do if you have a cough or a cold. On the other side it had information about the support available at community pharmacies. The messages around antibiotics and colds were agreed by Dr Martin Kittel, Clinical lead for Self-Care at the Bracknell and Ascot Clinical Commissioning Group. The Self-Care Forum gave permission for the Steering Group to use a poster they had designed on the support pharmacies provide. The leaflet was designed by Bracknell Forest Council’s Communications Team in-line with corporate standards.
The distribution of the leaflet took place in late October 2015 and in addition was promoted via the digital media channels of partner organisations.
The leaflet had input from Martin Kittel (BACCG), Daniel Green (BFC PH), Kate Kitto (BACCG), Steve Eker (BFC ASCHH) and Matthew Clift (BFC ASCHH / BACCG). The leaflet was also distributed to the Prevention and Self-Care Steering Group on Monday, 3rd August 2015 and approved.
Zoë Johnstone (Chief Officer: Adults & Joint Commissioning) gave her approval for the leaflet to be distributed to every household in Bracknell Forest.
D2D Distribution Ltd was commissioned to distribute the leaflet to close to 43,000 households. The distribution of the leaflet took place the week commencing Monday, 26th October 2015.
