The post of Digital Inclusion Co-ordinator, which is being part funded by the Prevention and Self-Care budget, is to provide a dedicated resource and support that will deliver the Digital Inclusion Action Plan in support of priority 5 of the Older People’s Commissioning Strategy: “Access to the Internet and how to use it” led by the Digital Inclusion Sub Group. This pilot is to encourage older people to access online information and increase internet use by older people. The post will support the delivery of the Bracknell Forest Older People’s Partnership Board Digital Inclusion Sub Group Action Plan. The co-ordinator will promote the digital inclusion message and position online technologies as assistive technologies that can support independence, safety, social inclusion and improve quality of life for this age group.
This project comes at a significant time when the DH is planning on establishing a digital health and social care system as part of its recent Digital Strategy to shift more information to digital channels for both users of services and professionals in the workforce.
